Two brothers accused of cultivating thousands of marijuana plants in a forest preserve north of Orland Park are scheduled to appear in Cook County Court Sept. 13 for a preliminary hearing. Mariano M. Robles, 51, is charged with cannabis production, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm without valid Illinois firearm owner’s identification, and unlawful taking of deer. He remains in Cook County Jail with bail set at \$150,000. Pedro M. Robles, 44, is charged with one count of cannabis production. He also remains in Cook County Jail. His bail is set at \$75,000. Cook County Forest Preserve District Police arrested the two Dallas-area residents without incident Aug. 20 in the McGinnis Forest Preserve, near 135th Street and 108th Avenue. Mariano Robles had a loaded .22 caliber rifle. Police Chief Richard Waszak said the brothers had been camping at the site since late June or early July. Their tent was located near three areas that had been cleared of foliage and planted with marijuana.
