Justin Beiber Helps End 100 Days of Summer Campaign
All summer, Parks, Recreation and Marine staff ensured that residents had hundreds of opportunities to “stay and play” in Long Beach, beginning with a concert by DSB (Don’t Stop Believin’) Journey Tribute Band and an evening of family fun on Memorial Day weekend at Marine Vista Park. Between the end of May and September 1, staff produced hundreds of free movies and concerts, aquatics and sports programs, youth “Fun Day” programs, teen and senior citizen programs, Long Beach Sea Festival events, and events at skate parks, the Homeland Cultural Center, El Dorado Nature Center and Rancho Los Cerritos. These events and many more throughout the City were posted on 100daysofsummer.org, a web site sponsored by the Long Beach Convention and Visitor’s Bureau that was a resource for fun ideas to spend time with family and friends. On September 1, the hit movie “Justin Beiber Never Say Never” screened at Blair Field to an appreciative crowd. The free event featured moon bounces, face painting and games as a warm-up to the movie. The event showcased that role that Parks, Recreation and Marine plays in the quality of life for Long Beach residents.
