Born December 28, 1922 in Kryan, PA., daughter of Alvin and Elizabeth (Klingensmith) Sherle. She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Sol Sherman, who died December 8, 1991; infant daughter, Patricia Ann, sister, Pearl E. Jenkinson and brother, George Sherle. She is survived by daughter, Patricia F. Sherman and partner, Bob Kathman, Tarzana, CA; sister Zina Mae, wife of Dwaine Ream, Lee’s Summit, MO; sister-in-law, Ruth (Kehn) Sherle, Sidman; niece, Joan (Ream), wife of Gary Werh, Lee’s Summit, MO; and nephews, Albert “Sonny” Jenkinson Jr. wife of Maryse, Hinesville GA; and Jerry Sherle, married to Phyllis Rowe, Sidman. She left Pennsylvania to work for the Social Security Administration in downtown Baltimore, MD and in Woodlawn, where she met her husband Sol, who was an Air Force navigator during WWII and attorney for Social Security Administration. They were longtime residents of Ellicott City, MD, where they built a house on St. John’s Lane in 1962. After retiring (19421977) as a Fraud Investigation Clerk, Pat worked as a family caretaker for the elderly and for children. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. She moved to California to live with her daughter and Bob Kathman in 2008. Friends were received from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, and from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 19, by Rev. Earl Butterfield. Interment, Dunmyer Cemetery. Verna worked for the former Lee Hospital as an LPN from 1956 until her retirement in 1976. She was a lifelong member of South Fork United Methodist Church, their Ladies Bible Club, the Elderberries Fellowship and the former United Methodist Women.
